From Mum to Beauty Therapist – How Did That Happen???

So I have decided to start writing a blog so that you can see what goes on behind the scenes of the salon but also so that you can get to know me a lot better. I think going into a beauty salon can be very intimidating and you almost feel like you have to look your best before you can even enter. I guess it’s like going to the hairdressers and washing your hair before you go!!! What is that all about???

So I only started in the beauty industry in 2010 when my eldest was 6 months old. I have always had a passion for doing my own nails and I loved all the nail art and expression you could have on your nails. I didn’t need to say anything but my friends and family would know my mood based on my nail designs. I thought that I would be able to be a mum and start my business in the nail industry but I had a husband at the time that was not all together supportive and I ended up doing everything all on my own and my nail designs and passion all wilted away. My dream of having my own salon ready left my brain and I just slipped into mum and wife mode. Needless to say I obviously didn’t do enough because not long after the birth of my second child, my husband left us. My eldest just started school and the youngest was 8 months old. I thought S*!T what do I do now. I had £25 in my bank account, bills to pay the next day and no food in the house!! I have to say, that this was the most scariest part of my life and I just didn’t know what to do, luckily I had a lovely lady in the job centre that was helping me figure out this life of single mum and how I would be able to keep it together. Between May and July 2015 I had enrolled in a beauty course ITEC Level 2 and in September 2015 I was going to be able to build my skills up and actually start a business.

No don’t get me wrong it was so tough and after my marriage I had lost all confidence and ability in myself and I was not even sure that I would be able to do this. Looking back two years later, I completed my ITEC Level 2 Beauty Therapy and my ITEC Level 3 Massage and along the way added Lash Lifting and Eyelash Extensions. Slowly but surely my confidence is increasing and I absolutely love what I do.

I think that being a mum has been a positive for me as I would never have been able to take this road into being a beauty therapist and I would never have really been successful in what I did. There were a few things that I enjoyed doing but nothing that gets me this excited. So after getting some amazing PPI, I now have a beautiful cabin in my garden and I am a fully qualified Beaut Therapist and can be there for the kids and start living life again. I have had such a hard couple of years that I would just like to be able to look back and be proud of myself and everyday is a little different but everyday I am getting a little bit stronger.

Why not book an appointment and you will be able to come and relax in the cabin experiencing a beautiful treatment and enjoy my passion of looking after others xx

I look forward to welcoming you soon xx
